Come on Bradley Wiggins!

It’s that time of year again where we get to witness the most gruelling sporting event of the year, Le Tour de France. At YGD HQ we love the cycling spectacle and watch in amazement year after year as the beautiful French scenery whizzes by at speeds of up to 70 mph. We thought last years Green Jersey victory and five stage wins by British rider Mark Cavendish, making him the first British winner for the race’s best sprinter title would take some beating, but this year the top two spots in the overall classification are occupied by two British Team Sky riders, Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins. Team Sky Leader Wiggins sits atop of the overall standings, two minutes and five seconds ahead of team mate Froome as they go into stage 16, a 197km stage from Pau to Bagneres-de-Luchon that has some brutal climbs up the great Pyrenean cols: the Aubisque, Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin and Peyresourde. This is the stage that could decide if Wiggins can hold onto the Yellow Jersey and become the first British man to stand on the top step of the podium in Paris on 22nd July.

While in France earlier this year we witnessed Bradley Wiggins pull on the Yellow Jersey on stage 3 of Paris-Nice at Lac de Vassiviere and managed to get some photographs of the modfather of cycling on the podium. Here’s hoping he can do it again in Paris on Sunday and bring a bit of sporting glory to Britain.
